The Snowman That Taught Me About Life

The Snowman That Taught Me About Life

The air had been warm, the ground soft with the promise of spring. Then, as if nature had changed its mind overnight, winter returned—silent, sudden, and unexpected.

For a moment, I thought of the disruption. The melting buds, the sudden chill, the way life shifts just when you think you understand its rhythm.

But outside, laughter filled the air.

Children, unfazed by the season’s indecision, ran into the snow. Bare hands, rosy cheeks, pure joy. They didn’t complain about the cold or wish for the warmth to return. They simply embraced what was given to them and began to create.

They built snowmen—not symmetrical, not perfect, but full of life. Lopsided smiles, uneven arms, a little crooked, yet completely wonderful.

And I realized something:

How often do we resist change, wishing for something else, instead of embracing what is?
How often do we hold back from creating, afraid of imperfection, when the real beauty lies in simply showing up and shaping joy from what we have?

Life, like the seasons, is unpredictable. It will shift, it will surprise you, it will not always give you what you expect. But within those unexpected moments, there is a choice: to resist, or to embrace. To mourn what was, or to create something new.

The children chose joy. They chose now. And perhaps, that is the greatest wisdom of all.

So today, whatever life gives you, meet it with open hands and an open heart. Build your snowman, imperfect and beautiful. Be present. Find joy.

Tell me, when was the last time you embraced an unexpected change and found joy in it? I’d love to hear your story. 💙
